Phoenix & Flag Acquires Majority Stake in Ofilingua

Phoenix & Flag, a newly launched language services company founded by former SeproTec CEO Juan Julián León, has acquired a majority stake in Spanish LSC Ofilingua for an undisclosed amount, the two companies announced on May 22, 2026.

Ofilingua achieved over EUR 12m in revenue in FY 2025, and the company projects at least 20% revenue growth to above EUR 15m in 2026.

The deal is the first acquisition for Phoenix & Flag since launching in May 2026, and León, who co-founded and led Spanish LSC SeproTec until its sale in September 2021 to private-equity firm Nazca Capital.

Phoenix & Flag has offices in Madrid, Spain, Austin, Texas, USA, and Singapore, and it is actively looking for more acquisition targets in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Rethinking Global Language Services

Phoenix & Flag is a Madrid-based LSC managing multilingual content, communications and intellectual property, and specializes in legal services, Global IP and the language AI technologies applied to those industries.

Building this has been about more than launching a company. It’s been about rethinking how our industry evolves at a time when AI is reshaping how we communicate, create, and protect ideas,” said Leon in a LinkedIn Post.

The Ofilingua deal is the first step in a strategy “to build a leading global language services platform, combining sector expertise, operational strength, proprietary technology, and a clear focus on international growth,” said Flag & Phoenix.

Ofilingua provides translation, interpreting, and intercultural mediation services, with a particularly strong position in Spain’s public sector, especially with state security forces, the defense establishment, and the judicial system.

“With this acquisition, we are bringing into the group experience, talent, operating capacity, and proprietary technology in a sector that is essential for public institutions, companies, and international organizations” said Leon. “Ofilingua contributes a strong track record, a highly specialized team, and a leadership position in the Spanish market.”

The Granada-based firm, founded more than 30 years ago by Melchor Fernández Monedero and Rafaela García Nieto, will retain its brand and key operational teams under Phoenix & Flag majority ownership.

“This decision opens a new chapter for Ofilingua,” said Monedero. “We were looking for a project with experience, vision, and the ability to preserve who we are. We remain fully committed to our team and our clients, while taking an important step forward in internationalization, diversification, and technology-driven growth.”.

International Expansion

Ofilingua will be a central piece of the Phoenix & Flag’s international operating model. The acquisition was followed on June 3, 2026, by the appointment of Álvaro Álvarez Elena, previously Chief Operating Officer at SeproTec, as Chief Business Officer of both Ofilingua and Phoenix & Flag.

The merger will combine Ofilingua’s expertise in translation, interpreting, and cultural mediation with Phoenix & Flag’s capabilities in intellectual property, legal services, artificial intelligence, and multilingual content. The strategy is to build a stronger platform capable of supporting Spanish and international clients.

Phoenix & Flag will continue to look for more acquisitions, especially profitable specialist companies with strong management and recurring client revenues, to help drive its international expansion.

It will look beyond traditional language services, localization and interpreting, and prioritize multilingual content operations, intellectual property services, legal tech and AI-enabled operational support.
