Dimitris Ntavelis Joins Toppan Digital Language to Lead MedDev

Dimitris Ntavelis joins Toppan Digital Language, the London-based language services company, to lead MedDev as Senior Director, Client Services.

Ntavelis joins from Welo Global (formerly Welocalize), where he spent 15 years leading operations in medical-device localization from Greece. He will lead Toppan Digital Language’s medical-device client-services practice.

The hire is the latest move in Toppan Digital Language’s vertical-specialist strategy under President Christophe Djaouani, who has been building out senior client-services leadership across life sciences, healthcare, financial services, and other regulated verticals since taking the role in September 2021.

A 15-year medical-device veteran

In his new role, Ntavelis will run client services for Toppan Digital Language’s medical-device manufacturers business, a vertical the company has been investing in alongside its broader life-sciences push.

Toppan Digital Language is certified to ISO 13485, the quality-management standard for medical-device translation supply chains, and holds ISO 17100 for translation services and ISO 18587 for post-editing of machine translation output, alongside HITRUST CSF certification for data security.

Medical devices are listed alongside life sciences, healthcare, and financial services among the company’s core specializations.

“With 15 years of localization expertise in the medical device sector, Dimitris is dedicated to helping manufacturers worldwide navigate complexity with clarity and confidence,” said Christophe Djaouani, President, Toppan Digital Language.

Ntavelis’ previous role was at Welo Global, where he most recently held an account-management and operations position in the company’s Life Sciences division, with a focus on Greek and European medical-device manufacturers.

Welo Life Sciences has been one of the larger dedicated medical-device localization teams in the industry, with operations across 15 offices in the United States, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

A vertical-specialist play under Djaouani

Toppan Digital Language is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-listed Toppan Group (TYO: 7911), the Nikkei 225-listed content-distribution group with annual R&D spend of USD 200m and roughly 55,000 employees globally.

The hire of Ntavelis continues Djaouani’s verticalisation strategy by putting dedicated senior leaders into each of its core verticals (life sciences, healthcare, financial services, legal services, market insights, and consumer brands).

“Looking forward to working alongside a great team, building strong partnerships with our clients, and helping them succeed in global markets,” said Dimitris Ntavelis, Senior Director, Toppan Digital Language.

Djaouani framed the hire with the hashtag “#raisingthebar”.
